Every year during spring break, we excitedly load up our car in anticipation of a week of refreshment and some much needed relaxation along the picturesque beaches in Destin, Florida.
What started as a fun-filled tradition with friends and numerous toddlers in toe crammed into one beach house with endless popsicles and juice boxes has evolved into a week of sharing those fun times with near and dear family. It is a getaway we look forward to every year, and, without a doubt, the whole experience would not be complete without my Mom whipping up our family’s homemade key lime pie.
This recipe comes from my great-cousin, Sally, a gifted hostess and entertainer who graciously shared her recipe with my Mom, who in turn makes this tasty treasure for all of us to enjoy during our spring break gatherings.
This pie is a simple and quick dessert to make, yet it is delightful and a total crowd pleaser. The only downside is that pieces of this refreshing key lime pie won’t last long and you just might need to make two. Luckily, it freezes beautifully, so you can make as many ahead of time as needed. Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to grab some Nellie & Joe’s Famous Key West Lime Juice. It truly is THE SECRET INGREDIENT that makes this yummy dessert so irresistible.
Whether your spring break is spent near or far, with friends or family, this pie is a perfect springtime treat, and taste buds will dance in delight at first bite!
